  About Carla
Carla She’s been handcuffed and hauled to the slammer. She’s gone head-to-head with monkey head transplanter, Robert White, and she’s received countless threats from irate hunters and trappers. Once a real estate agent/struggling single mom, Carla Bennett has emerged as one of America’s most beloved animal columnists.

She’s always stuck up for animals. On her own, she was a co-founder of two animal shelters in Illinois and wrote a column, “Earthlings,” for her local newspaper. Thirteen years ago, Bennett was in her 50s when she packed up and moved to Washington, D.C., to work for PETA, now the world’s largest animal rights organization.

Her advice column, “Ask Carla,” has appeared in PETA’s magazines for more than a decade—her book, Living in Harmony with Animals, is a collection of readers’ compelling questions about animals and Bennett’s insightful responses. Drawing on years of experience and knowledge, Bennett’s unique blend of compassion and humor has made her the “Dear Abby of Animal Rights.” From “yeast rights” to the decision to dump a boyfriend for a feline, Ms. Bennett offers practical advice and information about our treatment of and relationships with animals.

Living In Harmony With Animals Start the new millennium with a savvy new book about animals and animal issues, Living in Harmony With Animals. You can order this book through PETA's catalog.
